1 Japan appreciates the work done by the Secretariat regarding draft NOx Technical Code described in MEPC 39/6/1

2 However, Japan would like to make some comments on it as follows.

3 Paragraph 2.4.2

In order to clarify the text, ",but before issuance of an IAPP certificate to a ship" should be deleted. In the current text is not clear.

Table 1 and Table 2

The column of the Permissible Deviation should be revised for editorial reasons to read as follows;

(a) Table 1

"Permissible Deviation(±% values based on engine's maximum values)

(b) Table 2

"Permissible Deviation ± absolute values".
